FOOD JOURNAL – WITH FREE PRINTABLE

Hi everyone, welcome back to another post about journaling. Food is the softest corner of my heart, May that be trying different types of food or cooking various cuisines; May that be organizing my kitchen or May that be shopping for groceries, I love everything related to food. And with that love, creation of a food journal was inevitable. So today I present you all with this food journal. I hope you will like it, and use it for the year to come. So let’s talk about this journal.

The very first page is “All time favorites”. Start this journal with listing all the food you love. Draw them, stick their pictures, simply write them ; go as creative as you want here. Don’t forget to mention your favorite cooks (feature all your mom, aunts and mom in laws here). Let’s start this journal with the happiest page.

The next page is my favorite, “recipes for when I am unmotivated to cook” . List all your easy peasy recipes here. Because let’s admit there are days when you just don’t want to cook, and don’t even want to order food or eat out or ask someone else to cook. These are just the days you are unmotivated, and all you need is something easy to cook, something delicious to lift your spirits. (My all time musts on this list are khichadi and upma, yes go ahead and add them to yours).

Next page is again a happy page, “my comfort food”. List all the food items that make you feel good, that make you remember your childhood and even the favorite restaurant orders for the times when you are feeling a little low and just need a little feel good food for your tummy. (All the marathi people by default mention साधं वरण भात तूप लिंबू over here, trust me it’s a must).

Next page is fun, “new restaurants to try”. So very often we find a new restaurant and make a mental note of trying it someday. But the thing with our minds is that they are very cluttered. Dump all your restaurants to try on this page, and when you are planning to go out, you will have a list ready waiting to be checked off. ( I know 2020 made this page a little harder, but don’t lose your hopes, keep your lists ready).

Next page is again a treat for all the foodies, who have saved so many recipes on social media, “new recipes to try“. Write down all the experiments you want to conduct in your kitchens here, so that when you are extra enthusiastic about cooking you will have a list of items to try your hands on. ( trust me this list comes handy on weekends, when you are bored with all the same food you’ve been eating all week).

The next section is dedicated to “Food planning”. Here you will have four pages dedicated for you to write down your usual dishes. List all breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner dishes that you usually make, these lists come handy for planning your weekly menu. Planning out a weekly menu has helped me survive the long quarantine periods with ease. So I’m including the next page called “weekly meal plan” .

On this page you have a table to plan your daily lunches and dinners. Use tiny sticky notes each week to make this page reusable. Or you can make multiple prints of this particular page. The choice is all yours. Using sticky notes you can anytime modify the menu by rotating dishes, and you can also store these sticky notes on the back of this journal so they can be reused. At the bottom of this page you have a little section to write down your grocery list, where you can again use sticky notes and just click a picture of this page while going out for shopping or refer this page while ordering your groceries.

Take a look at this journal, and make all your food dreams come true. Have fun. Download the food journal here –>
